Welcome back to my skinsatin blog. Today I want to talk about a part of the body we love to abuse unintentionally. I want to talk about our feet, of course. Our feet are slipped on shoes with vertiginous heels, dragging in flip-flops, barefoot on floor too hot, the feet are slipped into shoes too small because it is the pair that must absolutely be wear. Finally, we mistreat them while doing ourselves good!

This may be for all this reasons that the skin of the feet eventually darken. The skin may dry out due to dehydration. You can find blisters on it, warts and a lot of other pretty little unwanted events.

But because there is one But, I have the solutions my very dear friend. To tell the truth, I have natural solutions for lighten dark feet with no side effects. These solutions will save you from a drama at the beach, swimming pool or by removing your shoes or socks in any situation. But ladies don’t forget one thing; the skin of your feet will be beautiful with my tips but it will have no effect if you don’t have a perfect pedicure. So keep your nail files, nail polish and follow the guide!

Lighten Dark Feet- Why the skin of the feet darken?

When all is well on the feet skin, the deeper skin layers, nourish the upper skin layers. On the outer feet skin, there’s layer of sebum that should keep the skin moisturize. In this way the feet skin remains supple and soft and doesn’t dehydrate. If this process no longer work the feet skin can become dry and darker. There’s 3 disruptive elements that can deregulate the feet skin:

– In winter it’s easier to have the feet skin that dries up and darken because of the change of temperature, the wind and the skin dehydration.

-The temperatures variation, like with air conditioning, very hot shower and too long, radiators that heats too much, hot bath too long. This brutal changes our skin hate them! this temperature contrast can cause skin peeling, dying up and darkening the complexion.

-There are hydration product that are not suitable for the winter season. Then the skin peels because it doesn’t’t moisturize enough and in winter it dries more easily. In some area the skin no longer has a protective barrier and become dry, rough and darker.


Lighten Dark Feet- Natural solutions

I will give you some tips to avoid going to a spa every week. It is true that to lighten dark feet there is no more pleasant than a spa. But the prices are a little less pleasant! You can use every day cooking ingredient to take care of your feet.


As very often on this blog I’ll talk you about lemon. Lemon is food that heals dead skin perfectly. Lemon is a natural whitening and it helps the skin to get rid of dark dead skins. Take the lemon juice and massage the skin on the feet for a few minutes and rinse. Repeat it several times in the week until you reach your desired result.




Potato also helps to lighten the dark feet.

*Extract the potato juice with a grinder and mix it with a tablespoon of lemon juice. Apply it on the dark skin of the feet. Let it dry during 30 to 40 minutes and rinse with cold water. Repeat it several times in the week until you reach your desired result.






Petroleum jelly:

Vaseline helps a lot to lighten the dark feet. Apply a lot of petroleum jelly on your feet, put on clean sock and go to sleep. Rinse with cold water the next day.



Spice mask:

Make a beauty mask with spices, flour or clay. Turmeric, Chickpea flour and Multani mitti (Indian clay) are used to lighten the skin. So this beauty mask can help you to lighten dark feet. For these ingredients to mix well they must be diluted with water or other liquids.

-Mix chickpea flour with enough water to obtain a thick paste. Apply the paste on the feet then let dry and rinse with hot water. Repeat 2 to 3 times a week.

– Mix one teaspoon of turmeric with enough liquid (water, cucumber juice …) to obtain a liquid paste. Apply the paste on the feet and left it acts 20 to 30 minutes before rinse. Repeat 2 to 3 times a week.

Lighten Dark Feet- Chemical solutions


There are brightening cream skin that you could find in pharmacies which help the skin to stop melanin production. I would recommend to use only those based on natural products. For those who are hydroquinone-based, take these cream under the control of a doctor. If hydroquinone is poorly dose you’ll have serious health problems.



There’s the peel for the feet, it’s a bit like the TCA peel for the face but for the feet. It’s pretty good because you don’t need to scratch the skin on your feet. You just have to put slippers on and wait 1:30. So you put your feet in plastics slippers and you pour in the liquid peeling dose for each feet. You wait the time and rinse. 4 days after the treatment the skin of your feet will begin to peel during a good week and you will end up with a feet skin very soft.





Lighten Dark Feet- Prevention

It’s better to avoid too long bath or hot shower, the skin of the feet and hands can become dry and darken because of the sudden change in temperature.

Don’t wait until the skin is dry to put moisturizing cream, so your skin won’t have time, to dry, flake and darken.

Don’t use alcoholic based products on the skin of the feet and hands, it can irritate the skin, make it dry and dark.

Wash your feet properly every day and be very careful when drying them especially between the toes to prevent infection.

  4. I am on my feet almost eight hours everyday since I don’t get to sit much when I am doing analyses of samples brought to the laboratory. My feet has some dark areas that does not look good when I wear flip flops during the weekend. These are great tips for me and I’m going to try it!
