Then we must recognize that it’s not very elegant a person who doesn’t stop scratching his/her hair like an animal full of fleas! So if you suffer from scalp acne and you think you have tried everything, follow the guide and you will not be disappointed!

Scalp acne – What is it ?

There can be several causes for scalp acne, first of all scalp acne are red and white pimples or blackheads spread all over your skull. Often when people are scratching their scalp they first think of dandruff or simply poor hair hygiene. But you should know that these itches are often caused by an attack of acne on the scalp. The first cause is often an excess of sebum, sebum is a lubricating liquid that ensures that our scalp doesn’t dry out and this is possible thanks to our sebaceous glands. So when there is too much sebum that has been produced, it will clog up the pores of the scalp which is the hair follicles and therefore prevent the sebaceous glands from working properly so it will inflame the hair follicles and cause itching. This process will facilitate the spread of bacteria on the scalp and these bacteria are responsible for scalp acne.

There may also be hormonal causes for the scalp acne, and we all know that at puberty hormones are responsible for many things in our behavior as in our body. As much in girls that in boys, the sex hormones increase and therefore the production of sebum too. Later in women there are hormonal changes in pregnancy and during a menstrual cycle.

There may also be reasons external to the body such as taking certain medication such as birth control pills or antidepressants. If scalp acne appears because of it, it is a medicated acne. It can also be due to stress, pollution or sweating, if you tend to sweat a lot, avoid wearing hats like caps too often.

But don’t believe misconceptions: Acne or scalp acne is not caused by poor skin hygiene, masturbation or too much sexual activity.

It would be nice to:

* Wash your hair every day. People who don’t suffer from scalp acne often wash their hair only every 2 or 3 days. But if you have scalp acne it is better to wash your hair every day to avoid the accumulation of oil on your scalp.

* Use non-irritating products. If you wash your hair every day but your scalp acne is still present, it may be because of your products. It would be nice to seek advice from a pharmacist or specialist seller to find out what is the best product for your sensitive scalp.

* Let your scalp breathe. By continuing to wear a motorcycle helmet, hat or cap your scalp will be muffled and your scalp acne will be hard to heal. So it would be nice not to wear a hat too often. 1. Hey Asrid! I found this blog quite productive but can you please suggest me that wearing hat/caps to protect your hairs from the pollution is bad or good? I live in Middle East region and you might know that the majority areas here are pack of pollution. Thanks!

    • Hello Umair Hussain,
Protecting your hair with a hat to protect them from pollution is a very good idea.
In summer or winter our hair is often attacked by the sun or the cold.
There are also very good hair care products to protect your hair
if you prefer not to wear a hat. It is true that we often think of protecting
our skin but we forget that our hair is so fragile. But even
if you protect your hair outside do not forget to brush with
a soft brush in the evening to remove all impurities from the
outside that will have landed on your hair.
