Treat cracked heels is more important than we think, it’s not just an aesthetic reason. This concerns especially the health of our skin, because if we don’t treat cracked heels it can get worse and start making bleeding wounds. The heels of the feet are under heavy pressure from the body weight all the time. They carry the weight of our body with each steps. As the heels have a very fragile skin if the skin has not been well hydrated, then the skin is cracking.

The crack of cracked heels can be more or less deep in the skin. The main reason is the pressure on the heel’s skin when we walk. As the skin feels attacked, to protect itself it produces keratin and the skin thickens. As the skin is less supple, if it’s not well hydrated, it’s cracking. When we have to treat cracked heels, we can notice that our heels are always dry and dehydrated on this area.

Grating the dead skin of the feet at least once a week with a pumice stone or a foot rasp can avoid having to treat cracked heels.

There is also the shoes style that we wear that can also create this problem. If you tend to have cracked heels, you should avoid wearing flat shoes or flip-flops.
