Vitamin C is 5 time more present in our organism than the other vitamins. According to the Doctor it would necessary for the human being to take it every day. Because our body doesn’t know how to synthesize it from sugar. Our body needs it, because vitamin C helps our body to defends itself against intoxication, cholesterol and infections.

But there is not even a third of vitamin C that is available for our skin. This because of pollution, lack of fruit and vegetables, lack of sun, too much alcohol and some contraceptives. That’s why it’s important to give it directly to our skin in the form of synthesized molecules.

By giving it directly to our skin, it’s more effective for the skin than orally. It protects all the DNA of our cells and work with the vitamin E against free radical. Vitamin C skin whitening – DIY Vitamin C Serum

Serums tends to oxidize, you will certainly need to change the bottle from time to time. Serums are quite expensive and you often have to buy some, that’s why I want to show you how to do it yourself. It’s not hard to do, you just have to mix all the ingredients together.

Ingredients and tools you will need:

Vitamin C : The vitamin that we will need here it’s L-ascorbic acid (this is it), it’s the purest and the most flawless form in the water, also it penetrates more deeply in the skin.

Glass or plastic ustensil: It’s better to avoid using a spoon or a glass in metal, prefer plastic or glass material.

– Amber glass dropper bottle: Vitamin C is very sensitive to light so it’s better to use a bottle tinted in blue or an amber bottle. It’s nice to have a funnel and a measuring spoon for more accuracy.

PH indicator paper: It’s important to have the PH of your serum which should be about 3.5. If it’s lower or higher it can cause bad reaction on your skin. If the PH is too low it can create irritation, if it is too high it can be useless.

Base: It’s used to distilled vitamin C, you can use distilled water, glycerin or both. If you use only distilled water, your vitamin C serum may be too liquid, it’s better to use distilled water and glycerin. So your mixture will be thick and moisturizing.

For 10% solution of vitamin C you will need:

*1/4 of a teaspoon of L-ascorbic acid

*2 teaspoon of distilled water

*1/4 of a teaspoon of glycerin

For 20% solution of vitamin C you will need:

*1/4 of a teaspoon of L-ascorbic acid

*3/4 teaspoon of distilled water

*1/4 of a teaspoon of glycerin

You can replace glycerin by distilled water but the solution will be more liquid.

-Dissolve the vitamin C powder int the distilled water until there are no more lumps.

– Once the powder is dissolved add the glycerin.

-Use the PH band to see if the solution is at the right PH, between 2.5 and 3.5.

-If the mixture is too acidic, under 2.5, you can add distilled water. Don’t add too much water, to prevent the solution being too dull.

-Use the funnel and pour the serum into a tinted bottle. Make sure of its air tightness and place it in place without light.

Hyaluronic acid is often use in skincare product because it retains moisture. It is an excellent ingredient for acne skin (like mine).

This serum which contain 20% of vitamin C you will need:

*1/4 of a teaspoon of L-ascorbic acid

*1.5 teaspoon of distilled water

*1/2 teaspoon of hyaluronic acid

Dissolve vitamin C in distilled water until it become liquid then add hyaluronic acid slowly and mix well.

To keep the serum longer, after having poured it into a tinted bottle, put it in the refrigerator or add a stabilizer like ferulic acid to prevent oxidation.
